University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of 1000 PG Scholarships
under the scheme of PG Scholarship for Professional Courses for SC & ST candidates
for the year 2011-2012 to undertake postgraduate level studies in professional subjects like
Engineering & Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. on regular basis only.
Only those candidates who have been admitted in postgraduate professional subjects at
recognised universities/colleges during the academic session 2011-12 are eligible to apply
under the scheme.
Selection will be made on the basis of merit by the Expert Committee. The guidelines of the
scheme, detailed terms and conditions of the Scholarship, eligibility etc. may be seen by
logging in the UGC website at www.ugc.ac.in
Applications in the prescribed format may be submitted only through on line mode latest by
27
th
October, 2011 (non extendable) by logging in website www.ugc.ac.in/pgsprof
The decision of the Commission with regard to selection of candidates for the award of
scholarships shall be final.
NOTE:-
1. Applications submitted only through online mode shall be entertained and no
application submitted in hard copy shall be entertained or considered for
award of Scholarship in any circumstances whatsoever.
2. Record of the non-selected candidates shall not be preserved beyond three
months from the date of declaration of results.

Expression of Interest Invited from Industry
Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), an Institute of
National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India jointly
with Kerala Livestock Development Board (KLDB), Govt. of Kerala has developed the Know‐
How for DECELLULARISED BOVINE PERICARDIUM complying international standards under a
project sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India.
BSE free bovine pericardium is sourced from Kerala Livestock Development Board (KLDB), a
Government of Kerala Organization which has modern cattle farms with ISO 9001
certification. The animal tissue is collected at KLDB as per International standard, ISO 22442‐
2 and is tested for BSE and other relevant bovine diseases.
The decellularised bovine pericardium has been evaluated for application as ‘Intra Cardiac
patches’. It is at an advanced stage of preclinical evaluation as ‘Dura substitute’. (For more
information on preclinical data please see the attached presentation). This material has also
potential application in the fabrication of ‘tissue heart valves’ and Institute is willing to
collaborate with interested industries to develop this material for fabrication of tissue heart
valve.
Expression of interest (EOI) is invited from Indian Medical Device Industries interested in
working with the Institute to commercialise the above products after necessary clinical
evaluation.
Industries with experience in cardiovascular segment may send their Expressions of Interest
with company profile highlighting their technical (R&D), marketing and financial strength
