NOTIFICATION
Sub:- Admission to Ph.D Programme for January – June academic semester, 2012.
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for Admission to Ph.D Programme in
Engineering and Science Departments for January – June academic semester, 2012 as given
below:-
• Civil Engineering.
Ph.D Programme:-
• Mechanical Engineering.
• Electrical Engineering.
• Electronics & Communication Engineering.
• Mathematics.
• Physics.
• Chemistry.
• Hydroinformatics Engineering.
I. Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology or equivalent in an appropriate area with a
minimum CGPA of 6.5 out of 10 or equivalent (60% of marks)
Minimum Qualification for admission to Ph.D programme:-
Candidates for admission for Ph.D programme in Engineering Departments must
satisfy one of the following criteria:-
II. Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology with an excellent academic record and
with a CGPA of at least 8.0 out of 10 or equivalent (80% of marks)
Candidates for admission for Ph.D programme in Science Department must satisfy
the following criteria
I. Candidates for admission to Ph.D programme in Science Departments must have a
Master’s Degree in the relevant Discipline with a minimum of 55% of marks in the
subject or equivalent.

Selection Procedure:-
On receipt of applications the candidates fulfilling eligibility conditions are called
for interview (Written / Oral). Selection is made on the basis of performance of the
candidates in the test / interview and availability of seats.

Scholarship Facility:-
Regular full-time scholars may be awarded scholarship / Assistantship as per
MHRD / Institute guidelines.

Reservation:-
Candidates will be admitted strictly following the 200 point roster policy as
applicable to NIT, Agartala as per Govt. of India norm.
www.nitagartala.in w.e.f 28/10/2011. Fee structure for admission to Ph.D programme
will be available in the same web-site subsequently. The envelope containing the duly
filled in application form along with a demand draft of Rs. 500/- (Five hundred) for OP
& OBC candidates and that of Rs. 300/- for Sc & ST candidates to be drawn in favour of
Registrar, NIT Agartala, Payable at SBI, NIT, Agartala branch (Code – 11491)
should be superscribed “Application for Ph.D Programme, 2011-12 in
………………….… Department” and must reach to the office of the Dean, Academic,
NIT Agartala, Agartala- 799045 latest by 1

December, 2011. All supporting
documents as per application forms should also be enclosed with the filled in application
forms. Employed candidates must apply through proper channel, along with N.O.C.
Application of the employed candidates without N.O.C. will be summarily rejected.
Candidates may apply separately if they want to apply for more than one branch. No
application will be entertained without the demand draft.
