Solar Photovoltaics has emerged as an important area of reserach today. India has launched the important Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, and the USA the ambitious SunShot Program. Furthermore, India and the USA have agreed to collaborate on R&D in the area of Clean Energy, including solar photovoltaics.
The Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) is sponsoring a workshop on "Frontiers of Excellence in Photovoltaic Science and Technology" at IIT Bombay on January 15-17, 2012. The event consists of a one-day tutorial (co-sponsored by the National Centre for Photovoltaic Research and Education) on January 15, 2012, followed by the two-day workshop consisting of invited talks by eminent researchers from India and USA, on January 16-17, 2012.
The workshop aims to create platform to discuss developments in the areas of Silicon crystalline/Multi-crystalline solar cells, Thin film and earth abundant solar cells (CIGS, CdTe, CZTS, etc.), Nanostructures solar cells (nanowires/nanoparticles, multiexcitonic effects, etc.) and DSSC and Organic Solar Cells.
The intended audience is researchers from academic institutions and from industry, including Ph.D. students. Limited travel assistance for students will be available. Registration will open on October 15, 2011.
The workshop is co-organized by S. Guha (IBM, USA), S. Ramanathan (Harvard, USA), S.S.K.Iyer (IITK, India), S. Mahapatra(IITB, India) and J. Vasi (IITB, India).
