Summer Training

Each year, ACTREC hosts 15-30 students doing M.Sc. (part I) at science degree colleges from any where in the country. During the summer break (6-8 weeks), they learn basic techniques used routinely in cancer research. More importantly, using these technique/s they try to answer a small scientific query under the close supervision of ACTREC scientists and present their results in a project report. This programme plays a major role in creating in the minds of bright, young students an awareness of cutting-edge research, and attracts them towards cancer research as a career.

Short Term Training

The centre also provides short-term training (3-6 months) in specific areas of cancer research to MSc (part I/ II) students whose college requires project work. In most cases, this provides material for a dissertation, which is a requirement of the curriculum of their respective colleges. PhD students from other centres/ institutes as well as teachers also avail such training, which is arranged over a mutually convenient period.
