Indian Army and IGNOU /Project Gyan Deep /Oct.,2011

The Indian Army and IGNOU began its association in July 2009. In a short span of time, this association fructified into a path-breaking collaborative effort — in the form of Project Gyandeep, when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Indian Army and IGNOU on September 4, 2009. Gyandeep was dedicated to the nation by the President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil on November 19, 2009. Since then, the association between the Indian Army and IGNOU has progressed in all spheres.

Project Gyandeep, a visionary and revolutionary idea, has created an impact in the educational arena at both national and international levels. Registration under Gyandeep has already touched 3.5 lakh and is likely to increase manifold in the times to come.

Gyandeep has now been extended to the Army Officers also, thus making them eligible for MBA registration with special conditions approved by the Academic Council of IGNOU.

With this new dimension, Gyandeep has touched new heights. The Centre of Excellence with IGNOU for the Indian Army will encourage inter-disciplinary higher education and research facilities for Army personnel. With this enhanced dimensions of Project Gyandeep and the new initiative in the field of higher studies and research with other universities/institutions, the Centre of Excellence will function as a national-level co-ordinating body.for more details

About RANET-2011

Nanoscience is an attractive, new area of research
that explores materials and novel phenomena
occurring  at the size scale  of 1-100  nanometers.

This size range lies between molecules and the bulk
counterparts. The beauty of nanotechnology lies in
its promises that it makes towards fulfilling the
requirement of shrinking electronic devices. As the
CMOS technology is approaching to its physical
limits, nanotechnology is a ray of hope to search a
better alternate of Si. Nanotechnology is advancing
day by day. It has increased the efficiency of
today’s sensor upto a molecule level.
A vast community is working in the field of
nanoscience and nanotechnology since last two
decades. It has been found that the properties at
nano scale change drastically. For example the gold
which is known for its particular golden color, turns
red in the nano  regime.  The deviation in the
properties is size dependent. The main three effects
that play a very key role are (i) Surface to volume
ratio (ii) Quantum effect and (iii)  Topological
effects. It has been revealed that the different
structures of same element exhibiting different
properties at nanoscale. A numerous nanomaterials
have been synthesized so far. The nanostructured
materials can be used in various electronic devices.
The aim of the  symposium is to  inculcate the
faculty members, research scholars,  scientist of
science and engineering discipline through expert
lecture series. The symposium will provide the new
dimensions to the community of the researchers.
Moreover, the dignitaries who attend the
symposium will be benefitted in a large extent. The
symposium will provide  an  opportunity to the
students and research scholars  to  interact  with
scientists, academicians and experts of various
fields  on the current advancements and the future
trends in the interdisciplinary field of Nanoscience,
nanoengineering and nanotechnology.

Broad Topics to be covered
1. Basics of Nano Science & Technology
