Master Programme at IVRI
All the seats at Masters'level are to be filled on the basis of combined examination for admissions and award of ICAR Junior Research Fellowships conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi.

The candidates for admission to Master's programme must have Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science as specified by the Veterinary Council of India with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (55% for SC/ST or sponsored candidates) or equivalent OGPA as mentioned under eligibility critaria.

Admission Procedure for Master ProgrammeThe Institute admits students to its post-graduate programme by rigorous screening procedure through five streams viz., open competition, foreign students, in-service candidates of Agricultural Universities under faculty up-gradation scheme, departmental candidates of IVRI and ICAR in-service nominees for admission to M.V.Sc. courses in the University. All the seats at Masters' level are to be filled on the basis of combined examination for admissions and award of ICAR Junior Research Fellowships conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi. On the basis of merit and after counseling, ICAR finalizes the students for Post-Graduate degree programme(MVSc) in this university in 22 various disciplines. Doctoral ProgrammeAdvertisement inviting applications for admission is published in the first/second week of March every year in the newpapers and also in the website of IVRI (http:/ /www.ivri.nic.in) every year around he first/second week of March inviting applications for admission. The last date for receipt of applications shall generally be last week of April every year or a date as may be specified from time to time. Doctoral programme is offered in 19 various discipline. Admission in the PhD programme will be held on the basis of an entrance test, academic records and an interview. The written entrance examination for admission to Ph.D. courses is conducted by the University on All India basis Selection CriteriaSelection of candidates for admission to Doctoral Programme will be made on merit with weightage of marks (100) as follows:
Written Examination
The minimum qualifying marks in the competitive entrance examination for consideration of admission to Ph.D. programme shall be as under :
* The marks of English and General Knowledge will not be considered for preparation of merit list. Selection criteria for sponsored candidatesSponsored candidates are exempted from written examination but they have to appear in an Interview on 03-04 August, 2009 (Monday & Tuesday) at I.V.R.I., Izatnagar.
* The marks of English and General Knowledge will not be considered for preparation of merit list. Subjects for written examinationThe candidates may appear at the written examination in any one of the subjects / subject combination as given under para 4.4. The medium of examination will be English only. The subjects/subject combination and its code for entrance examination should be clearly indicated in the application form. (For syllabus, please see Annexure in the Information Bulletin). Duration and type of entrance examinationThe entrance examination in the subjects/subject combination mentioned above, will be of 3 hours duration in Part A and B and will contain mostly objective type questions. Part-A of the question paper pertaining to English and General Knowledge tests will be common for all the candidates and cover the following topics :
The Part-B of the question paper will be devoted to the subject/discipline opted by the candidate. ReservationFifteen (15%) percent seats for scheduled caste, 7.5% seats for scheduled tribe, 18% of the total number of seats for Other Backward Category (being second phase) and 3% for physically handicapped candidates will be treated as reserved subject to their being otherwise eligible. The reservation of seats stated above for SC/ST category is interchangeable in a particular discipline amongst the SC/ST candidates depending upon the availability of such candidates. This reservation is applicable only in case of candidates who are admitted through the entrance examination. The details of tentative allocation of seats reserved for various category have been shown in the Information Bulletin at para 4.5 A (ii) allocation of seats. In case any reserved seat remains vacant in a particular discipline on account non availbility of suitable candidate, will be filled up in other discipline from amongst the eligible concerned category candidate on merit basis. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
